All ages are welcome! Whether you are 8 years old or 88 years young. With your desire to learn, we will teach you how to sew in our Sewing Basics 1, 2 & 3. You can be a complete novice or in need of a refresher, as you haven’t sewn since high school! Machine sewing as well as hand sewing. Includes all materials, with the exception of Level 3.
Sewing Basics 1 is for the complete beginner or someone who needs a refresher from their high school Home Economics class. You will learn: how to thread a sewing machine, basic stitches and seam allowances, grain lines, cutting a basic pattern, creating buttonholes, sewing on buttons, and inserting a zipper. All while completing 3 easy projects! Cost includes all materials and use of our sewing machine.
Sewing Basics 2 is for those who have completed Sewing Basic 1 or have sewn in a zipper and made buttonholes. You’ll be working with a commercial pattern to make an apron, learning about grain lines, rolled hems, seam allowances, gathering and more.
Sewing Basics 3 is for those who have completed Sewing Basics 1 & 2 or have worked with a commercial pattern, or made a simple garment. In this class you will choose your own project to work on. Materials, pattern, supplies are extra cost. Choice of pattern will be discussed in Sewing Basics 2. Cost of class does not include materials, pattern, supplies, etc.
Basic sewing kit is required for all classes. These are available for sale at the shop for $29.99 + HST. The kit is yours to keep after the class is over. Please write in the notes if you require one. We also have individual items for sale.
There may 4 or 6 students in each class and a combination of Levels 1, 2 or 3. Everyone must wear a mask when they enter the shop and when walking around. You may remove it while sitting at the machine. We will wear masks during the class.
These are 4 week classes, 2 hours per week.
