All ages are welcome! Whether you are 8 years old or 88 years young. With your desire to learn, we will teach you how to sew in our Sewing Basics 1, 2 & 3. You can be a complete novice or in need of a refresher, as you haven’t sewn since high school! Machine sewing as well as hand sewing. Includes all materials and equipment, including a sewing machine.
Sewing Basics 1 is for the complete beginner or someone who needs a refresher from their high school Home Economics class. You will learn: how to thread a sewing machine, basic stitches and seams, grain lines, cutting a basic pattern, creating buttonholes and sewing on buttons, and inserting a zipper. All while completing 3 easy projects! Cost includes all materials and use of our sewing machine.
Sewing Basics 2 is for those who have completed Sewing Basic 1 or have sewn in a zipper and made buttonholes. You’ll be working with a commercial pattern to make an apron, learning about grain lines, rolled hems and gathering.
Sewing Basics 3 is for those who have completed Sewing Basics 1 & 2 or have worked with a commercial pattern, or made a simple garment or craft. In this class you will choose your own project to work on. Materials, pattern, supplies are extra cost. Choice of pattern will be discussed in Sewing Basics 2. Cost does not include materials, pattern, supplies, etc.
Basic sewing kit is required. These are available for sale online or at the shop for $25.00 + HST. The kit is yours to keep after the class is over.
Each class has only 4 spaces. There will be a combination of Level 1, 2 and 3 in each class. Everyone must wear a mask for the entire time they are at the shop.
This is a 4 week class, 2 hrs per week.
